Using affordable homeownership as an anchor for strength, and stability, Habitat for Humanity has been building in Pierce County since 1985. We are committed to increasing access to entry-level homeownership for hardworking families.
As active participants in building a better future for themselves and their families, Habitat homebuyers make a minimal down payment and pay an affordable mortgage. Partner families also attend classes in financial literacy and asset building, and participate in innovative programs such as Habitat Connects which provides post-purchase support for new homeowners. At every stage of the program, partner families must be willing to work hard – knowing that everything they do serves a brighter future.
In addition to our offices, we have three retail stores that support our mission of partnering with families in need to build and own simple, decent, affordable homes in safe communities.
You can support Habitat by donating goods and/or shopping at our stores.
Our stores not only raise money so we can build new homes, but make home improvements affordable for our neighbors. By supplying new and gently used materials at reduced prices, the Habitat Stores offer the public the opportunity to save money while improving their own homes and neighborhoods. Inventory changes daily and all stock is dependent upon donations.
Volunteering on a Habitat build site is special. There’s a magic that happens as people work together – not for a paycheck, but for the pay-off of helping the community become stronger through stable neighborhoods and self-reliant families. But here’s a closely held truth: houses are not built by volunteers alone.
We depend on the generosity of donors like you to fund materials, equipment, the land on which we build, and the neighborhood revitalization work in the communities where we build.
Volunteers like you also help us build safe and affordable homes for families in our communities. Habitat volunteers cut lumber, drive nails, paint walls, lay sod, and support construction efforts in many other ways.
Whether you come out to swing a hammer, rally your service club or company to sponsor an event or a build, are a monthly donor or travel with Global Village to a Habitat build across the globe, you can make a difference.
