Northwest Service Dogs

Delaree Hart

Delaree Hart began training dogs professionally in early 2013. She had already been working with dogs and was looking to further her knowledge in animal behavior and training concepts. When she learned of a man by the name of Tom Tackett and his training program with the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation her interests were piqued and asked Tom if she could help in any way. Tom, whom had been training dogs since 1977, took her under his wing and began teaching her how to be a more effective dog handler and trainer. From that day forward Delaree dove right in and hit the ground running. Her enthusiasm for teaching was noteworthy. She showed up every day whenever possible first thing in the morning and always arrived early. By 2016 Tom, impressed by her perseverance, dedication, and talent, offered her the position of "Training Director" for Tackett Service Dogs, inc. Before she knew it Delaree was training a large of variety of dogs, working with clients, conducting private and in home lessons, leading classes, and guiding volunteers and other staff trainers through the stringent process of properly training a dog. Working with dogs has been a blessing in itself, but having the opportunity to help our veterans and others who may benefit from a service dog has been a fantastic privilege and a "dream job" come true for Delaree.
Since she began her career as a professional dog trainer, Delaree has worked in a wide variety of training styles including
service dogs, therapy dogs, and basic to advanced obedience. In 2017 Delaree and her husband, Milan Franklin made the move to the beautiful Pacific Northwest and opened Northwest Service Dogs. They look forward to continuing to train well behaved family pets, therapy dogs, and highly trained service dogs to assist our returning veterans. Delaree is a CGC evaluator for AKC, Professional Premium member of APDT, and an Associate member of IACP.
